The Association of Care Giving Relatives and Friends

The Association of Care Giving Relatives and Friends aims to support family caregivers and those who are being cared for and to promote their interests. The Association has been functioning since the year 1991 is nationwide and bilingual. Caregiving relatives, friends as well as interested citizens and professionals are admitted as members of the Association. In addition, the Association has 66 local carer associations as members.

The Association has over 9000 members. The membership fee includes the magazine Lähellä (four issues annually) and entitles the members to the services provided by the Association such as legal advice, holidays and rehabilitation courses etc. Members will also receive a service guide every second year.

The Association's activities comprise:

• Legal advice, guidance and counselling
• Provision of publications and information (magazine, books, service guides, videos, website etc.)
• Group meetings for care givers
• Holidays and rehabilitation courses for care givers
